Appointing an Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a document in which you authorise another person (your Attorney) to make financial decisions on your behalf. You may require this document for a specific event, for example, if you want someone to deal with your financial matters at home while you are away, or a Power of Attorney that comes into effect if you are to lose the capacity to make decisions yourself. We can assist you with the preparation of a Power of Attorney. We suggest you give careful consideration to who you wish to appoint as your attorney, as they may have to make important financial decisions on your behalf.

Preparation of a Will

A will is a legal document which sets out who you wish for your assets to pass to in the event you are to pass away. It also allows you to appoint someone you trust to administer your estate (your executor). Your will can also document other important matters, such as burial preferences and the ongoing care and financial support of minor children. We can assist you to prepare or update your will. Once your will is finalised, we recommend you regularly check in with your solicitor to ensure that your will remains accurate throughout the different stages of your life.

Appointing a Guardian

An Enduring Guardianship document provides a person nominated by you (your guardian) with the power to make health, medical and lifestyle decisions on your behalf if you lose capacity to make such decisions yourself. You should carefully consider who you wish to appoint, and make sure they are willing to accept the role and understand your wishes.
